About Me

Hello there! So you want to know a little about little old me, eh? Well, let me tell you... I am now totally at ease with myself, my life and my Christianity! I am exceedingly happily married to "Von" and have two fabulous sons and the most beautiful daughter. I am also blessed with having nine grandchildren and nothing pleases me more than to get spoilt by each of them, on my birthday, or for Christmas! I grew up in a beautiful little village called Shaw, which is part of Oldham, Lancashire. Before I was born it rose to prominence as a major player of cotton-spinning and textile manufacture, and at its zenith had more millionaires per capita than any other town in the world! What a claim to fame! From where I lived, at the top of what was known locally as Maltshovel Brew (It's more like a mountain than a brew!) the landscape was amazing! Littered with dozens of mills, but as strange as this may sound, it was a beautiful sight! I started my working life as a welder and although I had been in showbusiness as a child, the main thing that was expected was that on leaving school I should get a 'proper' job... Which I did ! It was during my 'welding' period that I met Thomas Derbyshire and together we formed a double act. We eventually turned professional and, after many years slogging around the clubs and anywhere we could work, we became an 'overnight success' as Cannon and Ball! We have since topped the bill all over the world for the last 30 years and the only time we will slow down is when Tommy has to get a zimmer frame......which should be next year!!! Now then, in 1984 I became a Christian, after meeting a vicar called Max Wrigley. He talked to me and I gave my life to God. I have been a Christian for many years now and I take about 4 months a year out of my schedule to preach the word of God around the country. If you want me to come and speak at your event, then contact me on the e-mail address on this website. I think that it's safe to say that for a guy from Oldham, I have lead a very varied and interesting life!
